Cher public, you are getting too clever for this old doyenne. On our most recent Regie quiz, which La Cieca considered so curiously designed as to be unrecognizable, fully half a dozen of you guessed correctly that the opera was La traviata. Cocky Kurwenal was first, but stagelefty also managed to pinpoint the director, Achim Freyer. Also deserving of a kudo or two was Orlatromba, who chimed in late, but came up with the snappiest quip, “The women look like cats and we all know Traviata is all about p***y.”

Which brings us to this week’s quiz. La Cieca will warn you in advance that the work depicted is a fairly obscure title, so she’s not expecting many correct answers. However, because she likes to keep things interesting, your doyenne will award an amazon.com gift card to the commenter who can dream up the wittiest logical “identification” of this production — whether they get the title correct or not. (Contest ends a week from now, at midnight on Saturday, September 13. Expect La Cieca’s decision to be arbitrary and abrupt.)
