A “spy” unaffiliated with parterre box whispers to La Cieca that yesterday’s dress rehearsal of Samson et Dalila at the Met was sung by Nancy Fabiola Herrera from the wings whilst Elina Garanca acted the role “on vocal rest.”

The sharp-eyed attendee added that Herrera’s all-black ensemble, featuring leather jeans cinched with a “statement” belt, was by far the most attractive costume on stage.

Further buzz from the event included the tidbits that Jonas Kaufmann will receive only a quick walk-through on stage without orchestra before his gala return in La fanciulla del West and that the bar continues to serve Diet Pepsi in lieu of something actually potable.
