Liudmyla Monastyrska will reprise the title role of Aida in 2016-2017, opposite the Radames of Jorge de Leon. Also that season: Amber Wagner will sing Senta in Der Fliegende Holländer and Clementine Margaine will sing Carmen.

Angela Meade will alternate with Anna Netrebko in the title role of Norma in 2017-2018. Also that season: Tara Erraught will sing Nicklausse in a revival of Les Contes d’Hoffmann opposite Diana Damrau and Piotr Beczala; Yannick Nézet-Séguin will conduct Elektra; Elizabeth DeShong joins the cast of Semiramide as Arsace.

Stuart Skelton will sing Siegmund in the 2018-2019 revival of Der Ring des Nibelungen, conducted by Philippe Jordan. Also that season, Netrebko. Beczala and Anita Rachvelishvili star in a new production of Adriana Lecouvreur.

La Cieca

James Jorden (who wrote under the names "La Cieca" and "Our Own JJ") was the founder and editor of parterre box. During his 20 year career as an opera critic he wrote for the New York Times, Opera, Gay City News, Opera Now, Musical America and the New York Post. He also raised his voice in punditry on National Public Radio. From time to time he directed opera, including three unsuccessful productions of Don Giovanni. He also contributed a regular column on opera for the New York Observer. James died in October 2023.
