Though the soi-disant “NYCO Renaissance” has not yet actually set dates for, you know, performances performed any opera, you will be happy to note that on November 30 you’ll have the opportunity to attend a fundraiser for the troupe—at a $250 top.

Dear Friend of NYCO Renaissance:

For over four-hundred years, opera’s unique fusion of music, drama, and design has made an indelible impact on audiences all over the world. At NYCO Renaissance, we are committed to preserving opera’s cherished legacy by producing and performing fully staged operas that will leave an impression on our audiences, not just for the duration of the evening, but for the rest of their lives.

Puccini spent four years transforming Victorien Sardou’s La Tosca into his musical masterpiece. In January of 1900, his iconic opera Tosca premiered in Rome. Forty-four years later, New York City Opera introduced itself to the people of New York with Tosca. In early 2016, NYCO Renaissance does the same, recreating the original costumes, set design, and of course, beautiful music of the historic 1900 premiere.

Attached is an invitation to our upcoming November 30th Prima della Prima, an exclusive event introducing this historic production to a limited group of enthusiastic opera lovers. We would be delighted and honored if you would join us in celebrating New York City Opera’s history, and inaugurating its next chapter.

Warmest regards,
Michael Capasso
General Director, NYCO Renaissance
