La Cieca urges you in the cher public to register on parterre.com. After the simple registration process, you should remain logged in to the site indefinitely, or anyway until you deliberately log out (see the “meta” section of the menu bar to the left).  The advantage of registering is that you will not need to key in your username and email repeatedly, just comment, click “enter” and sit back and watch the fireworks!

Your doyenne is also working on a way for you to edit your own comments, though that may take a little more time. If any of you are interested in how to include links, images, or YouTube videos in your comments, let La Cieca know and she’ll post a mini-tutorial.

James Jorden (who wrote under the names "La Cieca" and "Our Own JJ") was the founder and editor of parterre box. During his 20 year career as an opera critic he wrote for the New York Times, Opera, Gay City News, Opera Now, Musical America and the New York Post. He also raised his voice in punditry on National Public Radio. From time to time he directed opera, including three unsuccessful productions of Don Giovanni. He also contributed a regular column on opera for the New York Observer. James died in October 2023.
