Cher Public

The incomplete idiot

Intendant Alexander Pereira halts the merry-go-round briefly to discuss Salzburg and La Scala with Zachary Woolfe of the New York Times.

Too bad the writer missed the best two opera productions. The Cenerentola was great from start to finish with everything working. Singer, director, conductor were all on a very high level and then the La Favorite which was a concert but still the singing was great. The rest was garbage. Next year I am interested in the Fidelio and not much more. The Gluck I will try and see Pfingsten.

      La Fav was concertante, no?

I’d rank the Cenerentola and the Fierrabras!

With you on the Gluck plan … .

  • I hope the Cenerentola was filmed and the Favorite will eventually become a recording. I have high hopes since Bartoli stuff gets filmed a lot.

    • ML

I think you’ll get both wishes.

  • Feldmarschallin

Well the production deserves to be filmed with this cast especially.

What a punim! Makes Gelb look downright viral.

If the festival logo red in this foto was adjusted to its true color, I wonder what would happen to Pereira’s face.

Was he trying to look like an exile from a John Carpenter film?
