The Turandot chat
Tonight’s chat during tonight’s season premiere of Turandot from the Met begins at 7:30 pm.
Special feature of tonight’s chat: a commenter chosen at random will be awarded the new Cecilia Bartoli Sacrificium CD. The selection will be made (randomly, as I said) from the total pool of comments, which means, the more often you comment, the higher your chance of being randomly selected. The usual contest-type rules apply about La Cieca’s whims being final and the possibility of substitution of a different prize if the winner lives outside North America.
Comment away, my little public!
veloce it’s a good point
See sometimes we agree!!!
I’m happy to admit on the rare occasion that you are right
Squirrel – I would agree with you that some of AT’s comments seem to have been lifted from the chat.
I know I may be talking some serious shit here, but I think he’s so at a loss for ideas, and needs approval so bad that he echos our opinions.
I also wonder which handle Peter Gelb and James Levine post here under….

For all of those out there making nonsensical comments about Mr. Giordani’s singing last night including the total fabrications of booing at the curtain or during the performance, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Mr. Giordani had a triumph last night. There isn’t another tenor on the international stage that can bring the type of passion, ardor, and powerful singing that Mr. Giordani did last evening. No other tenor today has the high voice (or middle) with as much color and squillo as he does. I was in the house and I can freely attest to the fact that is voice hits you in the face like a missile. I will candidly say that Mr. Giordani is in a league of his own and the people on here castigating him are either jealous, demented, or listening with cotton in their ears.
Michael –
Are you in fact Marcello Giordani himself? Because while his performance was not the disaster it was made out to be by some of the commentators here, it wasn’t him at his best, by a long shot.
@468 Michael : “(h)is voice hits you in the face like a missile.”
And that’s a good thing? sounds painfull to me.
