“…replacing madge alsop, who is ill”

Diva of the Future Renée Fleming, whose impending assignments include modeling four couture gowns on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera, is shown here making a septuagenarian female impersonator look positively chic by comparison.

If its all the same to you, Harry, id prefer a seat in Dame Ednas audience! and if i HAVE to go see your favorite top-notch performer (WHO did you say it was???) i will be happy with a seat in the rear.

PushedUp Mezzo, let’s remember in Australia, if you become noted for one just thing in entertainment, it is not too long before one becomes a T.V panellist, a coffee table book writer, a columnist, a judge on some kids or trite talent show,a participant on a weekly games show, a dancer on ‘Dancing with Stars’, a chat show host,a radio broadcaster, a regular bit player on a TV series, an social event ‘launcher’, public social butterfly, a self appointed ‘blow artist’ ranconteur etc etc etc… Have you ever read the silly dribble from the actual resume of some of these ’5 th rate dabbling performance seals’? Those that make their money in ‘face appearance fees’ from doing anything, countless others could do : just or more, capably?. It is how well ‘they bum their way through doors and around corners’ or network; not about their degree of intrinstic talent , if one looks ever so closely. Now to answer your question perversely: perhaps Germaine Greer the obnoxious forever grizzling feminist creature who wrote ‘The Female Eunuch’ might fit the bill as an example. She could also be considered somewhat Everage’s self nemersis, too in more ways, than one!

“Let alone Barry Humphries’ numerous other artistic skills – writer, satirist, painter, art critic and conservationist, bon viveur…. Name me anyone in showbiz with his/her incredible wit”

High C’s …Your comment is so unintentionally and I bet unfortunately funny on your behalf; when one thinks through it!

Well said PushedUpMezzo, but I suspect if he took a douche there wouldn’t be much left :)

Well said too High C’s – I think its stuck on the rave button again. I’ll read it tomorrow – for after all, tomorrow is another day! :)

  • Harry says:

Well Ruxton you have totally revealed yourself….I have being waiting for the full manisfestion. Oh well …’just another dumb bitch on the culture block, with nothing constructive to say’.As far as PushUpMezzo is concerned ,I now know what constipated mezzos use on themselves.

I like the dress Ms. Fleming is wearing. It’s unusual and very interesting.

  • anonymous says:

Ms. Fleming is not wearing a dress. She is wearing an ensemble, or whatever the terminology is. Ms. Everege is wearing the dress, and, as usual, what she wears is unusual and interesting.

  • Chanteuse says:

La Cieca, who doesn’t like me, might care to know that dear Renée is all set to appear in the October issue of American Vogue modeling those haute couture ensembles.

Whatever Renée’s motives for dressing the way she does is her own business. But let me just say that she’s come a long, long way from this video:

    That is all.

  • il lacerato spirito says:

Very well put, Chanteuse. It seems that Renee has had “bad hair days” from the onset. I know that some have defended her in that she is an opera singer and not a fashion plate….I have had about 40 years experience in costuming and I must say Renee does the most to make herself look like she don’t know about fashion…..look at the cover of Opera News….a bit over the top for me

  • Chanteuse says:

    Exactly, il lacerato spirito.

Although, for my money, she looks mighty gorgeous in that Opera News cover.
