La Cieca is sure that you, the cher public, will have the mostess’ of fun this week with the vast selection of operatic activities available in New York, which is why she’s offering you a few brief recommendations after the jump.
If you’ve missed out on Satyagraha thus far, you have two more chances before it exits the Met repertory, the first of which is tomorrow, November 26. Fans of opera the way your mother used to make it will want to check of Madama Butterfly at Regina Opera on the 27th, and where else would one be on November 28 but the Ian Bostridge recital at Carnegie Hall? Tuesday night the 29th is the prima of the Met’s new Faust with Jummy Jonas and Ravishing Rene (among others), and on the 30th you’ll be back at Carnegie for the Collegiate Chorale’s Moïse et Pharaon. Start December off right with “A Goyishe Christmas to You!” from the New York Festival of Song on the the first, and if you have any energy left after this whirlwind, drop in on La Bohème at the Met December 2, if only to find out what Hibla Gerzmava can do with Mimi.
These and many other events are chronicled in the New York Opera Calendar.
