For me the most exciting bass was Samuel Ramey. I saw most of his performances at NYCO and the Met. He was always thrilling vocally — and what an incredible performer. But the performance, I remember the most was when he sang Attila at NYCO. He was so exciting and charismatic on stage. He was a true grande cantante basso.
