Michael Landman-Karny agrees:

Natalia Ushakova (soprano), Vesselina Kasarova (mezzo), Dmitry Korchak (tenor), and Sebastian Huppmann (baritone) in “Last Christmas” in Vienna in 2014.

Ushakova storms in like she’s playing Tosca, flinging top notes with all the grace of shattered glass. Kasarova purrs through a haze of self-love, her tone thick enough to frost a cake. Korchak clutches the melody like it owes him money, while Huppmann rumbles on, blissfully unaware he’s sinking the sleigh. Together they exhume “Last Christmas” and beat it with the Phantom lair’s candelabras.

By the chorus pitches in, it’s already a trainwreck. It’s opera karaoke at the gates of hell, and even the angels would fake a phone call to leave early.
