I’ve always thought that the opera contains some of Adams’s most interesting music, especially in the choral writing. Director Luca Guadagnino has proven himself adept at drawing out nuanced, complex performances from his casts across a wide range of film genres, and the casting of Laurent Naouri and Katarina Dalayman is intriguing.
