Not announcing casting seems to be “the thing” these days as Florida Grand Opera is in the same situation. However, Kathryn Lewek has been a returning star for the past couple years, so my big question is “which opera(s) will she be doing next season?” She has certainly done a number of successful Gildas (including at LA Opera) and Michael Chioldi has been a regular feature at PBO, so that could be a good “power couple” casting. However, she has made her fame at PBO in French roles – Hoffmann (original version) in 2024 and Roméo et Juliette in 2025 – so could a Pearl Fishers be on the horizon? Inquiring minds want to know.

On a related note, Nadine Sierra is a local girl — originally from Fort Lauderdale, she made her debut at PBO while in her teens (Sandman in H&G). I know she has moved on to the BIG houses, but is it too much to hope that she might one day return to grace the stage at PBO or even FGO (perhaps debuting a new role before taking it on to other opera houses)?
