Patrick began reviewing for parterre box in 2011 and his writing was characterized by a vast expertise, trenchant sense of humor, and abundant generosity and love for performers and for opera. Patrick’s warmth, knowledge, and incisiveness will be deeply missed by those who collaborated with him at parterre box as well as the many people who enjoyed (and laughed aloud at) his writing. The news was confirmed by his family.

Patrick’s record of writing for parterre can be viewed and enjoyed here.

From a remembrance posted by Patrick’s employer, All-Travel:

Patrick’s heart was deeply rooted in the world of music. A gifted singer, he spent 15 years with the Verdi Chorus in Santa Monica, later serving on their Board of Directors and lending his talents to their marketing and outreach. His love for music, much like his love for life, was infectious and inspiring.

He lived his life with an open heart, an adventurous spirit, and a deep sense of joy — standing at the pyramids of Egypt, marveling at the palaces of St. Petersburg, and finding pure happiness at a Mozart opera in Sweden. Patrick’s memory will live on in every life he touched, every journey he inspired, and every note of music he so deeply loved.

Gifts in memory of Patrick may be made online to the Verdi Chorus of Santa Monica. There is a space at the bottom where you can leave a personal message. Donations can also be mailed to the address provided.
