Plishka performed nearly 1700 times at the Met, including as Filippo II in Don Carlo, Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra, Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Dr. Dulcamara in L’Elisir d’amore, and the title characters of Boris Godunov and Falstaff. He was one of the final surviving cast members of the first “Live from the Met” broadcast, a 1977 La bohème starring Luciano Pavarotti and Renata Scotto. The news was confirmed by a friend of the bass.
