It takes some effort to get the voice moving in the florid parts. And she pretty much sticks with the score, no high interpolations. A top B flat at that point is the voice's upper limit.

I heard the Philly broadcast & was able td pause the opera on Sirius!! Best of both worlds--the Mahler was fab & opera gloriously bouncing along on delay--Brownlee stunning!
Farrell recounts Mitropolous did the singers to use a score. If they needed to refer to it, they had to clomp over to his podium where the score rested.
