New York City Opera has announced a search for “a transgender singer with a treble voice” to create the role of a transgender character in the opera Stonewall. The casting notice adds that “the singer will collaborate closely with composer Iain Bell on the role.”

In other exhilarating news, the company is “postponing” its production of Robert Ward‘s The Crucible, originally scheduled for September, i.e., two months from now, to the 2019-2020 season.
