Cher public, La Cieca acted with her usual impetuosity last night and migrated the blog to WordPress. For the last couple of months, Blogger has been slower and slower to post to FTP, and their Help Desk might better be called “Desk.” The frustration really peaked late yesterday afternoon when La Cieca got the “fishbone” update, the official word of the Chicago cancellation of Juan Diego Flórez.  Obviously La Cieca wanted to get this story online quickly, and just as obviously, Blogger kept stalling and sputtering. (And this was for a one-paragraph item without any images or sounds or anything; uploading files and images has also ground to a standstill over the last few months.)

Your doyenne also noticed that comments were slow to display, which she knows is frustrating for her loyal public — and doubly so to herself, since reading these comments is sometimes the only human contact she has for days on end. (Sunnyside is economical and safe, but it’s not exactly Paris in the 192os, if you know what I mean.)

So, anyway, here we are. The layout is still somewhat rudimentary, but La Cieca intends on tweaking some this weekend, and while she’s wired, she’ll attend to some of the details here. (La Cieca’s little drug-related joke.)

Now, practical matters. If you look at the bottom of the left hand column, you will find a pulldown menu that lists the monthly archives of the “old” parterre.com. In fact, here it is:

You can continue to comment on these older posting, and (here’s the good news), you will find that commenting here on WordPress is much easier and user-friendlier. When you enter a comment, you will be asked for your name (i.e., your nickname) and an email address. Please be assured that the email address will not ever be published; that’s just a precaution to discourage anonymous haters.

La Cieca is hoping that WordPress will make the tech side of le blogging easier and so she will have more time to, well, blog.
