Viva, viva il nostro Alcide!

Congratulations to Cesare15 (pictured, right) who came, saw and—after a false start or two—conquered in the very challenging “Piangerò” quiz devised by Our Own DeCaffarrelli! With a perfect score (even Roberta Invernizzi!) Cesare wins not only the palm but a coveted Amazon.com Gift Card.

Roberta who? Congratulations, Cesare. That was one tough quiz.

Congratulations to Cesare and decaffarrelli (and to CF, too, who was so nearly there).

La cieca, let me know when you fancy doing another of these as I have one (quite fiendish, I think) ready to send to you.

    All hail Cesare15!

Quite a feat, and who the devil IS Roberta Invernizzi?

Congratulations to Cesare15 for “his” intrepid march toward the complete solution. I had thought that this was a difficult quiz and possibly no one would get all fifteen correct. Clearly I needn’t have been concerned. I will add, however, that Cesare15 is incorrect in venturing that the Schaefer clip comes from Amsterdam 2001--it does not.

I’m pleased that many seemed to find this exercise interesting and challenging; in fact, I have nearly completed another quiz, one that I hope may prove equally stimulating. However, I’m eager to see what armerjacquino (and others?) come up with too.

  • Great quiz!. Bravo Cesare15! I enjoyed every minute of it, so big thanks to DeCaffarrelli!!

    Can’t wait for AJ’s quiz !

Invernizzi is arguably the reigning Italian baroque soprano (definitely not Ciofi), for better or worse.

She has sung a lot with Spinosi, Alessandrini and de Marchi.

Many thanks for DeCaffarrelli for the great quizz and to a a participant of handel-l that attracted me as a Handel enthusiasts whi is usually not reading Paterre.com. Having seen about 30 Cesare performances and quite a bit more recordings, some of the the 15 sound bits where still really hard to identify.

I am a bit surprised that Invernizzi is still that unknown. I had heard her only a week before at the Halle Handel festival.
