Bitter to the sweet

damrau_fille_thumbLa Cieca just heard that Diana Damrau has canceled her engagement in Hamlet with the Washington National Opera. Heading the “star-studded” cast for this production will now be Liam Bonner / Michael Chioldi, TBA, Samuel Ramey, Elizabeth Bishop and John Tessier.

wladek write so amusing on bel canto subject!

most so stupid listeners like bellini garbage when wladek know objectively: better is music of giants telemann and bruckner.

#31-What is your take on bel canto ? so many
misinformed opinions of the art .
No one called listners stupid except
you-Bellini music is not garbage -it is
just some pointless melodies that have
little bearing on the drama and which
he attached anywhere to anything and
gave some good singers a chance to
show off their abilities while the
drama comes to a complete stop.
    Telemann and Bruckner don’t
figure in this sort of writing. The
real master of all this is Mozart
the rest line up in whatever order
    one feels .
