A summer place

lakeLa Cieca hears that Glimmerglass Opera is about to announce the name of its next General Director.  Shockingly, it’s neither an actual Brit nor someone currently associated with NYCO, ya know.

Alexei Steblianko was Bezukhov. The program says that he joined the Kirov in 1976 and he indeed sounds old. Imagine a very old Heppner cracking again and again. And it’s a long role.

Hard to keep track of who was who. Kutuzov wasn’t totally bad but I kept hoping for Sam Ramey, huge wobble and all. At least Ramey brough some real presence to the role.
