Should old, old, old acquaintance be forgot?

new-year-baby-200X200Well, La Cieca certainly hopes not, and she looks forward to seeing all of you in 2010. In the meantime, do drop by parterre.com beginning around 6ish this PM for a live chat about tonight’s Carmen prima from the Met. After the jump, La Cieca and an unidentified member of the cher public (possibly Camille?) discuss the passage of time.

I love this old film, one of the best New Year’s Eve films ever made. I also enjoy Cukor’s remake, RICH AND FAMOUS, with Jacqueline Bisset and Candice Bergen filling in for Davis and Hopkins. It’s trashy but a lot of fun. Happy New Year, La Cieca!

I love this clip, tears, and thank you La Cieca for hosting me in NYC (and for singing with me, but I promise I won’t release it to the public) -- and lets celebrate with CARMEN

Happy New Year to all the sistahs, queens and assorteds filled with Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Puccini, Mascagni, Leoncavallo, Giordano, Alfano, Berio and Maderna. I love you all girls. Just one exception, that fraud “playright”, the monster, a te la mala pasqua dannato, sei verflucht, please choke on the haagen dasz this year, will you, but not before finishing the idi amin liederbuch, set it to the divine music of arnold schoenberg, and have it premier by that great artiste Benita Valente at a theater near you in South Philly.

Happy New Year to our doyenne and everyone else on this site. But the phrase “passage of time” is not one of my favorite. Il tempo vola, but it’s better not to think about it.

  • A. Poggia Turra says:

Happy New Year to all, especially to our hostess with the most-est. I have loved Parterre since finding it in the Met lobby, and I still can’t read Opera Magzine’s list of upcoming apperances without thinking WE FEAT THAT……

  • OK Kiddos, I just want to get all mushy for 5 minutes and say thank you for your company this year. I have been unemployed most of the year and you guys have been a constant source of contact with the outside world. Thank you for pushing me, for challenging me (even when I didn’t like it) and for making it interesting in my home for the past year.

I hope you all have a very successful 2010. Blessings and hugs to all.

    Lindoro.

    • CruzSF says:

And to you, Lindoro. You always keep it interesting, even when I disagree with you. :-) May 2010 be a better year for us all.
