Do not want…for shame!
It swishes like Kathleen Battle and sounds like Steve Urkel. It must be a Rufus!
Is this French he is singing? Correction: trying to sing?
His right (our left) sideburn is longer than the other one. If that’s what I’m noticing, the singing must be horrid. And it is. Makes Barbra’s classical album sound like Elly Ameling.
Speaking of pointless attempts at classical music, Anyone see that Andrea Bocelli is singing at MSG next month? With Opera Orchestra of New York (minus Eve Queler. STeven Mercurio is conducting) and Eglise Gutierrez.
Whatever you can say about Bocelli’s singing (and I am not a fan of his attempts in the operatic genre), at least his singing is in the Italian tradition of “opera-style” (“operavocative”?) singing in popular music. The same cannot be said of Wainwright.
.
On the other hand, plenty of art songs were originally conceived to be performed by amateurs in salons. Not sure whether or to what extent this is true of “Les nuits d’été.”
He should sing anything he wants in the confines of his home or private music-making sessions. But to do it in public is ridiculous. He hasn’t even learned the pitches and rhythms well enough to come off as a sincere amateur.
This is dreadful. Embarrassing. Is he so lacking in self-awareness that he can’t see that?
it’s time for rufus to sit down and shut up
the best thing about Rufus is his very hot Euro-boyfriend.
