now i love sumi’s voice and ability as much as the next person … but she is one of the crummiest actresses i’ve ever seen on a stage.
For the Lucia HD, the only way out of this whole mess is to have both Netrebko and Villazon lipsync to the 1982 Lucia telecast with Sutherland and Kraus. The applauses, ovations, and curtain calls could also be kept, which would make Trebs happy. That’s more applause in one afternoon that she’ll get in her entire lifetime.
If that’s not possible, Millo once said that Lucia was the first role she ever learned. Can we get her?
I heard they’re considering Ernest Borgnine as the Lucia replacement.
I’m not a fan, but does Futral still sing it? And what about Stephen Costello?
whoever said forbis AND voigt sound good on wfmt has very strange taste … forbis is terrific, voigt sounds like she’s having a VERY hard time. andrew davis is conducting with an immersion blender not a baton … frothy excitement!

I was under the impression that the Volpe administration cast most if not all of the operas this season, including the Netrebko Lucia and the Netrebko Manon (which didn’t happen because of Tiago). So why is Gelb getting all the credit/blame for this unfortunate event?
