fire when regie
Far too easy, or at least far too straightforward, was last week’s Regie quiz. From the very beginning Lindoro and many others recognized Pfitzner’s Palestrina. The very handsome production was seen recently at the Bavarian State Opera. Christian Stückl was the director and Stefan Hageneier the designer.
Is this week’s quiz a trifle more challenging? Well, cher public, let’s take a look after the jump and you tell me!

Salome.
LA SERVA PADRONA set in Budapest’s Turkish Baths.
I think its Thais.
I am going to say Forza but Carmen is a possibility.
Die Macht des Schiksals
(1)..seen during overture.. Leonora tires of the social whirl at a costume party in Berlin
(2) Don Alvaro, gone ’round the bend after accidently killing leonora’s father, shoots Preziosilla in the head, two bars into the second verse of her Rataplan.
(3) Don Alvaro on the battlefield..insisting on strip searches before offing deserters
I think I would shoot on the spot if Paulo Szot were singing to me; nope, I’m sure I would since I just came thinking about it.
I’m going out on a limb here with my guess, which is….. it is some opera written sometime by someone of some nationality.
or The Mikado
Death in Venice
definitely Die Aegyptische Helene, same production being done at DeutscheOper right now.
Elektra?
Don Carlo in Egitto?
