What looks to be the Next Big Thing coming from the Met: offering their audio and video content for download a la iTunes. La Cieca is not clear on the details of this new program, but a job listing has just gone up on metopera.org for a Digital Producer who will be responsible for the web interface for “Met Digital subscription and rental sales.”

There’s a German TV Trittico from Hamburg that’s well worth a look- order it from Premiere Opera now and you may have it by Christmas. Barbara Daniels and Grundheber in Tabarro, everyone’s favourite leather queen Dale Duesing as Schicchi, and a terrific Angelica with Gallardo-Domas and Dernesch.

It’s Harry Kupfer, mind, so might be a little regie for some tastes.

    Cieca! Cieca! Cieca!
Where do we have to sign to get you that job?

  • Nerva Nelli says:

Yes, I. Dossip, I understand that ( it’s implicit in what I wrote). My point is that this is what we are going to be given more of in the TIMES, chat pieces and not reviews.

  • Bob Villa says:

    are you ok cieca?

We might also talk about the embarrassing major failure- dramatic, musical and linguistic- that Shirley Verrett endured at the Met with FIDELIO.

Just a helpful suggestion for the sake of the site.

I don’t know where to ask this, so I’ll do it here. Does anyone know about broadcasts from Salzburg this summer? It is implied in http://www.emergingpictures.com/opera_salzburg.htm, but there is no detail, and no blog mentions it.
