Did Cecilia Bartoli get married?

bartoli_weddingOpera Chic reported a couple of days ago that “[t]he Italian mezzo married her longtime boyfriend, big buff Swiss bass-baritone, Oliver Widmer. However, there is no official confirmation of the nuptials, and a closer reading of the Chic’s purported source for the news suggests that Bartoli and her beau are “just good friends,” as we gossips used to say back in the day of tougher libel laws.

But more to the point, what the hell is La Cieca supposed to do now with that gift-wrapped blender?

Don’t leave home without it

Anna Netrebko was not pregnant as of this morning, according to Jeffrey D. Vanderveen, managing director of Universal Music Classical Artists Management, who broke the non-news to Opera Chic.

La Cieca will continue to keep you updated on the state of the soprano’s gravidity as the situation develops.

i can always put that award where my heart ought to be

Cher public, La Cieca begs you to consider yourself among the little people to be thanked as your doyenne accepts the award for “Best Overall Classical Music Coverage in a Blog or Newspaper” as awarded by artsjournal’s Life’s a Pitch.  La Cieca is honored to be recognized among so eclectic a group of honorees as Mark Swed, Nico Muhly, Pink, Angela Gheorghiu, Mark Adamo and Anne Midgette.

And now for the asterisk: La Cieca shares the award with Opera Chic, the “one” in the “one-two punch” noted by the group who voted upon the, uh, “Pitchies” or whatever they’re called.
