Micaela Baranello is a musicologist and erstwhile opera blogger. Her music criticism has appeared in The New York Times and Financial Times; her book The Operetta Empire was published by the University of California Press. She is assistant professor of musicology at Temple University in Philadelphia and reviews editor of The Opera Quarterly. She is working on a book about Regietheater.
