It’s his vast use of colors and vocal textures that have always resonated with me as a storyteller on the opera stage — the dramatic choices he made from time to time, like how he’d hiss the name Cassio at the beginning of the duet “Si, pel ciel” with Otello.

And it’s his way of storytelling that is so evident in this clip of the optional arietta from Macbeth, “Mal per me.” You feel the disgust Macbeth has in himself. Hear him accept his failure, and you almost pity him. And for this, I definitely #cheerforthebadguy!
