Brilliant production by brilliant director Laurent Pelly, who has given me so much joy with his superb productions of Offenbach and other works, of Rossini’s brilliant opera buffa Il Turco in Italia from Teatro Real Madrid starring the brilliant “The Greatest Thing Ever,” Lisette Oropesa. The whole production, updated to 1950’s “La dolce vita” cinema era, is very fine but what really elevates it to the tops for me is the duet cabaletta starting at 1:03:48 with The Greatest Thing Ever striking Gina Lollabrigida-type poses while singing cascades of coloratura. Ha ha ha, so gorgeous! What a singer! What a performer! What a star! What a DIVA!
I’m still thinking about Laurent Pelly’s Il turco in Italia
Ha ha ha, so gorgeous!
