This clip is a strong case for leaving non-operatic music alone.

The heavy, lumbering vocal delivery devoid of any grace is one thing, but the appalling pronunciation – “Lost noight oy leh a sleepeen, thayre came a dreem so fayre” – it’s akin to what Ethel Merman pejoratively called “Concert English.”
