Most of it seems like “blah, blah, blah, mein this, mein that,” and the whole Mariandel incident in the last Act is dreck. Maybe I need to see it to get it, but I watched a live Met Broadcast with te Kanawa, von Stade, and Battle, and I fell asleep. And don’t get me started about Capriccio. Yawn!
Change my mind about Der Rosenkavalier
I just don’t get Der Rosenkavalier except for the plum moments like The Presentation of the Rose and the Final Trio which for me satisfy my indulgent sweet tooth.
