Kirsten was such a smart woman and an intelligent artist, and this book is jam-packed with accounts and anecdotes of a dazzling array of working experiences, fascinating details of her starry colleagues, analyses of her roles, lessons from Gustave Charpentier, as well as from her mentor Grace Moore; and her 3 marriages, the first two troubled and tragic. I had no idea of the breadth of her career or just how versatile Kirsten was; and she handled her career and fame with absolute shrewdness and assurance.
