Cast Michael Spyres in the big tenor part and the deranged Ausrine Stundyte (or the equally deranged Kathryn Lewek, who should be thinking about some big girl parts IMO) as Carlotta. Get Nagano to conduct and Kratzer or someone to direct. The last time I saw this opera (Komische, dir. Bieito) the curtain opened on a revolving broken-down circus and Ausrine Stundyte dry-humped a nine-foot Kelly green teddy bear all the way across the proscenium front. Tell me you don’t want to see THAT live in HD.
The Met should revive Die Gezeichneten
It will never happen, but a girl can dream.
