Devieilhe, who has previously appeared locally in recital, makes her first appearance at the Met on January 15 as Soeur Constance in the latest revival of Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites. In May, she switches to the role of Blanche de la Force for the first time in the same opera for a new production at the Vienna Staatsoper.
Listen for a startling Rodgers and Hammerstein interpolation in today’s Viennese Fille.
In April, Anduaga—who won two first prizes at Operalia just four years ago—will take on Nemorino in L’Elisir d’Amore opposite Aleksandra Kurzak, his MILF (by comparison) Adina, and Alex Esposito in his Met debut as Dulcamara. Davide Luciano, Puritani’s Riccardo and veteran barihunk, returns to Belcore at the Met in the same Donizetti opera beginning next week opposite Golda Schultz and Javier Camarena.
The recent Naples Puritani was performed in concert and seems to be a very complete edition, as one can hear in Oropesa’s extended “Son vergin vezzosa” at around the 55-minute mark.
