The Metropolitan Opera’s 2022-2023 season announcement
The Metropolitan Opera’s 2022-2023 season will offer seven new productions including the world-premiere staging of The Hours and the company premieres of Champion and Medea.

The Cherubini tragedy will star Sondra Radvanovsky and will premiere on the company’s opening night, September 21, 2022.
The roster of artists includes Roberto Alagna, Piotr Beczala, Angel Blue, Javier Camarena, Lise Davidsen, Joyce DiDonato, Renée Fleming, Christine Goerke, Ryan Speedo Green, Anna Netrebko, Kelli O’Hara, Matthew Polenzani and Sonya Yoncheva.
Ten live Met performances will be transmitted to cinemas across the globe as part of The Met: Live in HD series, which begins October 22, 2022, with Medea and continues with La Traviata (November 5, 2022), Don Carlo (November 19, 2022), The Hours (December 10, 2022), Fedora (January 14, 2023), Lohengrin (March 18, 2023), Der Rosenkavalier (April 15, 2023), Champion (April 29, 2023), Don Giovanni (May 20, 2023), and Die Zauberflöte (June 3, 2023).

La Cieca
James Jorden (who wrote under the names "La Cieca" and "Our Own JJ") was the founder and editor of parterre box. During his 20 year career as an opera critic he wrote for the New York Times, Opera, Gay City News, Opera Now, Musical America and the New York Post. He also raised his voice in punditry on National Public Radio. From time to time he directed opera, including three unsuccessful productions of Don Giovanni. He also contributed a regular column on opera for the New York Observer. James died in October 2023.
