Opera from a certain point of view. The best opera magazine on the web. Reviews, breaking news, critical essays, and brainrot commentary on opera from those demented enough to love it.
For the return of parterre saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM, Our Own JJ salutes soprano Aprile Millo, who will be making her London recital debut on Tuesday. The live recording we’ll be hearing is an Otello from 1988 in which The Divine Miss Millo shares the stage with Vladimir Atlantov and Renato Bruson.
As a special treat for you afternoonians, La Millo has sent a recorded message we’ll be hearing during the intermission. (Those of you know know this diva well know that she is as good a talker as she is a singer.) Also during the intermission JJ will reveal his rationale for programming the show, illustrating his point with a reading from a classic opera text.
