Now here’s some political news La Cieca can follow with interest:

Merkel surprises with daring décolleté at Oslo opera

That how The Local described German Chancellor Angela Merkel‘s appearance as a special guest at Saturday night’s gala celebrating the opening of Den Norske Opera’s new auditorium. It seems Die Kanzlerin racked up a double handful of press attention by sporting (in the words of Bild.de)

… ein modisches Abendkleid-Ensemble. Der petrolfarbende Bolero-Schal über der schwarzen Robe umrahmte ein tief ausgeschnittenes Dekolleté. Auch Pumps und Handtasche waren im Blau der Stola gehalten.

So, just how “tief” was the “Dekolleté?” Well, judge for yourselves:

Your doyenne, as soon as she managed to quell her pangs of envy at Frau Merkel’s prepossessing poitrine, recalled that one of the headliners at the gala concert was a diva well known to you all: Maria Guleghina. Coincidence? You tell me!
