  • Amika

Only thing to me that is weird is she loses control of her runs sometimes…like she just throws them to the wind. Instead of phrasing them.

    • Rowna Sutin

I have heard her in Rossini live and she can toss those runs around with great precision.

      • Amika

Rossini runs are exactly what these sound like to me

        • Amika

          And they’re Donizetti runs

          • Camille

Right!!! You know that there is a difference! There is a difference, in every composer. Donizetti was working from Rossini, and not the other way around. Bellini, was just weird and went off of Rossini right away and as soon as he could have.

      • Amika

Perfect example right here in the cabaletta

      • Camille

To me, she was at her best as Comtesse Adèle.

      • Heheh, you remind me just last week, as I was in Reims, I had another look, after some years without it, at Il viaggio with Caballé…

    • Camille

oh really? you mean tonight? I do not know this opera sufficiently so would not know when and where she cheats……

  • Apulia

there are some things that are so appealing that it’s hard to resist, I wish she were at her best

    • Camille

Exactly! You wish her the best as she is such a darling.

  • Camille

uh oh two octave drop. Just like Abigaille!

  • Rowna Sutin

Give her a break -- she is fantastic!

    • Amika

Sorry…we sound harsh. You’re so kind!

    • H_Badger

I can hear her holding back….but in this case, in a good way?

  • CwbyLA

I missed the beginning. Was there an announcement made about her being ill?

    • Amika

I was going to ask the same thing. I only saw it on her social media page

      • Rowna Sutin

        She asked for prayers!

  • trevor

    Ah, brava!!!

  • Rowna Sutin

A very credible performance. Good job all around

  • Amika

    Lovely performance! Love that opera!

  • manou

OK -- it’s 3.20am here and I must go to bed. Arrivederci tutti and thanks for the companhy!

    • Camille

      • manou

        Ci stò gia!

  • Rowna Sutin

    Night all!

  • trevor

Wonderful performance! An operatic miracle in more ways than one!

  • Amika

Night all! thanks for the lovely chat!

  • Camille

You know, I may go to this and I had utterly NO intention of doing so, as this was, influenza and debuts and everything notwithstanding, this was a whole lotta fun!

Five days, Maryjo? More like five WEEKS!!!!!!!! I remember the interview!!!1

    • Amika

I think she was referring to her debut?

      • Camille

Right, her debut as Adele —- she learned it in around about a month, I remember her talking about it. It was quite a challenge. It is a FORMIDABLE role….I have a score around here somewhere and it is really mind boggling. written for Laure Cinti-Damoreau!

  • Camille

El sistema? Wow! That is a real testimony to that system. I hope he gets his confidence up.

  • H_Badger

Till next week! Kelsey in Trovatore!

    • trevor

Big double bill that day…Don’t forget Walkure at 11:00 A.M.

      • H_Badger

        It’s a long day….but I’m HERE FOR IT.

      • Amika

Can’t wait! I’ll try to join

      • Camille

OMG, How will I get the strength to do it all??? Must take vitamins!

        • trevor

          More armagnac!

          • Camille

            Vous en avez raison!!!! Buvons!

      • H_Badger

was wondering if LaC will do a rabbit chat like Boheme in space….?

        • Camille

She just might! She is all worked up about it!

  • Camille

Oh OUI! Tha?s, idole fragile!!! I was gonna go two times and I wimped out.

  • Camille

What a remedy for influenza!!! Now I know il remedy!
    Buonanotte a tuttiquanti!

  • Amika

Good night all! For real this time. Feel better Camille!

    • Camille

      As they say in Spanish:
“hierba mala nunca muere”. = or —

      Bad grass never dies!

This Elixir perked me up considerably as it was much better than I would have expected, and after some repeated dedicated hearings in the last ten years I am starting to ‘get it’.

  • How does one get this broadcast? It isn’t on the MET’s live stream,

and I’ve clicked on anything and everything that might be a link here on Parterre. I’d be grateful to anyone who leaves me the instructions
    here.
