Blue, I think it’s his I-phone that’s this close, Roberto probably being at the beach, while Aleksandra is sweating in the outdoor heat rehearsing Gilda for Arena di Verona.

I just had a look at her FB page and while I am happy for them, I do find all of that coo coo heart photo lovebird stuff a bit cloying. Even if they want to rub Angela’s face in their happiness, I think that some things are meant to be private. I cringe when I see friends going on and on about how sexy their partners are on FB…it is possible to overshare.

          • marshiemarkII says:

Oh Blue you are a gurl after my own heart! I also intensely dislike when public figures rub on everyone else their private bullshit, good or bad. Mot du jour again: Oversharing!!!!!

In fact I thoroughly dislike any kind of PDAs, gay or straight. When I see queens at the gym getting all lovey duvey I scream, get a room.

    Well.

I think I can hear Gheorgiou’s teeth gnashing together all the way over here in southern Ontario.

The best part is that Kurzak has more than three roles, so Roberto can branch out some. :)

So does this mean a new Gilda for the Met? She’ll be at 7 months or so during the Rigoletto revival this fall.

I have to admit when I read this my first thought was Angela must be livid lol.

Interesting…on 15 October, Angela and Stephen Costello join forces for the first time in a concert in Frankfurt. Too bad he’s married.

I do think one should spare a (kind) thought for Gheorghiu, no matter how exasperating she can be. It must be very hurtful for her.

And yes, blue, a little restraint from the happy couple would be very welcome.

      Manou,

You are right about everything, of course. Only, I have a feeling we are dealing here with a “guerre de tranchées”, in which case the restraint issue is beside the point. Kurzak doesn’t strike me as particularly effusive, she seems to be very well balanced, and a VERY clever cookie who is intent on winning, whatever it takes. Just my twopence…

        Citation needed.

Citation of what? Are you confusing me with…never mind!

          • armerjacquino says:

            Hahaha!

No, just wondering what you based that conclusion on.

            • oedipe says:

It’s a personal impression. Scratch “whatever it takes”, though; that’s too strong, I realize now. I am holding on to the rest of the impression, but I won’t go into details. (BTW, I think the same description applies to Ange too.)

Totally agreed. I hate overt displays of any type of affection. I feel like it’s a bit calculated to really stick it to her.

Surely few gay Parisians indulge in such extravagant periosculatory conduct! (Well, except maybe the part about the wallpaper.)

              Visit the Marais, Batty.

            • oedipe says:

P.S. Though I confess having no idea what “periosculatory” means, I vouch for the “extravangant conduct” part.

            • manou says:

I have no problem with periosculatory (kissing around -- or even kissing fairies for that matter). It’s the wallpaper I can’t figure out.

            • oedipe says:

              Wallpaper flowers, maybe?

            • Batty Masetto says:

Possibly I misunderstood what the lovebirds were up to with that “papier bleu d’azur.”

In any case we are a tribe known for our discrimination in matters murotegumentary. Cf. St. Oscar the Wild: “My wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One or the other of us has to go.”

Roberto looks pretty darn good in this photo, for a middle aged person bending over face down defying gravity. Many of us wouldn’t dream of adopting this posture and looking at a camera…..or mirror! :-)
