Only slightly off course, there will be a live broadcast Sunday 6:00 p.m. London time of a concert presentation of Simon Soccanegra. The nostalgia press for Domingo (in thanks mainly for past blessings) has been substantial. Critical acclaim however has been overwhelming for Calleja. Furlanetto has been ill so he is a question mark. You can get a sample of JC on youtube. Overall the production has received high marks.

8 AM for some of us. Then we could listen to the Barber and talk incessantly about anything and not miss anything we haven’t already heard except for Nathan Gunn’s Figaro which probably is better seen and heard rather than just heard from what I hear. What I don’t want to hear is 2 or 3 Almaviva arias in a row, at a tempo that is slower than…..my poor ears!
