I’ll go with that great musical critic of the last half of the 19th century, Sam Clemons (Mark Twain.) He admonished all of us to remember that Wagner was not as bad as he sounds.

What is with that bizarre accent? It’s somewhere between Anne Baxter and Ilona Massey.

  • Nerva Nelli says:

ignorant wladek too ignrant of rossin’s outputi to know opera GUILLAUME TELL

ignorant wladek not realize how much of wagner is prefigured in TELL.

Go listen to meeting of three canton sin TELL and go listen finale of opera with ranz des vaches

La La Dek like ACD (I think that they are one in the same?)on another opera site have a very narrow idea of what opera/music-drama is all about. Wagner is “it” as far as they are concerned And that’s fine.
But the problem is that the two Wagner nuts are ever provocative, always attempting to put down Italian opera –like spoiled children–desperately trying to get our goat(s). It is soooo boring. We get it, girls.
I absolutely adore Wagner, especially the Ring and Parsifal, but I adore Bellini and Verdi as well.

    CLITa – I bet you do .

  • manou says:

Spelling – that is the passion of Nerva Nelli.

CDT, Wladek has already stated that his interest extends beyond Wagner, namely to Mozart. I think we owe him the respect of not flogging that particular pony.

  • Clita del Toro says:

    BETSY–
The Wagner “girls” like ACD = La La Dek always tend to like Mozart–nothing new–and all I can say, it’s big of them! (BFD)
They follow the only true religion: Mozart—Beethoven–von Weber–Wagner–no room in that lineup for those nasty, tacky Italians.
