Pappano is clearly a singer’s conductor, managing balance and flow with great aptitude. His early LSO Puccini recordings are wonderful and his rendition of Wozzeck that I heard live was masterfully bleak. Since concluding his tenure at Covent Garden, it would be great to see him perform more often in the US.
Antonio Pappano is a great opera conductor
Antonio Pappano‘s versatility in both German and Italian repertoire and beyond is both rare and impressive.
