In January, the elegant pair of Marina Rebeka and Ludovic Tézier wrapped up their role debut performances as Nabucco and Abigaille in Naples. Parterre Box is pleased to feature them facing off in the Act III duet with both in thrillingly incisive voice.
This Neapolitan Nabucco complements a Verdian winter for this duo; Tézier jumped from Naples to Paris where he is currently singing Renato in Un ballo in maschera, a role he will take to Berlin right after, and Rebeka will return to her native Latvia for performances of Aïda next month.
But perhaps no recent Verdi milestone for the pair is more significant than the release of a new recording of Simon Boccanegra on Rebeka’s own Prima Classic label at the end of December. You can hear them in one of the duets — which sounds like it was recorded in a parking garage — below.
