Nothing makes me feel better than Theodora

This is not exactly a comfort “opera” as it is from Handel’s late oratorio Theodora which is sometimes staged as an opera.

Sublime duet with The Greatest Thing Ever (Lisette Oropesa) and countertenor Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian. They know they face death as Christian martyrs but “comfort” themselves with the thought that they will meet in heaven. Actually every opera, every oratorio, virtually every piece by Handel, is a “comfort” piece to me as there is always a sublimely beautiful, heavenly piece of music like this one.
