Despite having recorded Dido’s lament for the first time in 2016, DiDonato is surprisingly only just now coming to the full opera which she has performed on tour with Il Pomo d’Oro. Today’s featured performance comes from the Paris stop of that tour last year and it was with this ensemble that she released her recording of the complete opera on Erato last month. The recording itself, which Parterre Box recording critic Richard Lynn is buzzing about, was made during the performance in Essen. This season, DiDonato will only sing one complete opera: Kaija Saariaho‘s Innocence when it arrives at the Met in the spring.
