H_Badger says you must watch The Leftovers

One of the most striking uses of opera in television appears in HBO’s The Leftovers.

In the climactic moments of Season 2, Kevin (Justin Theroux) willingly ingests poison to enter an otherworldly realm and confront his nemesis, Patti (played by the outstanding Ann Dowd).

The episode is underscored by Verdi’s Nabucco, with the powerful Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves reaching its peak as Kevin faces Patti—now appearing as a child—forcing him to grapple with the weight of his actions.
