When a revival of Handel‘s Ariodante in Boston coincides with the HD relay of the Met’s current revival of Le nozze di Figaro, parterre box can’t help but share a bit of Olga Kulchynska, the Met’s Susanna, singing the florid “Volate amori.”

Evan Zimmerman

Kulchynska’s New York debut has won over some critics for the box, with Annie Levin praising her “excellent phrasing and flitting elfin vivacity” and Christopher Corwin finding her a “lovely, lively Susanna.” In Boston Baroque’s Ariodante, the role of Ginevra goes instead to Amanda Forsythe whose Baroque bona fides are hardly in question.
