On this day in 1951 Dolores Gray and Bert Lahr opened in the revue Two on the Aisle at the Mark Hellinger Theatre for a run of 276 performances. Abe Burrows directed the show with sketches and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, and music by Jule Styne.

Birthday anniversaries of poet and novelist Gottfried Keller (1819), baritone Aldo Protti (1920), stage designer Robert O’Hearn (1921), soprano Amy Shuard (1924) and conductor Gerd Albrecht (1935).
