On this day in 1920, the Metropolitan Opera presented its first performance of Eugene Onegin, featuring Claudia Muzio, Giuseppe de Luca (not pictured) and Giovanni Martinelli singing in Italian. 

And in 2011 the Met debuted Le Comte Ory.
